Rocking Paper Plate Santa

It’s time for a great Santa craft – let’s make a wobbly paper plate Santa!

We’ve been rocking penguins made from paper plates, so we’re adding more wiggle characters to our collection, we love when our paper plate crafts have a special unique touch!

We love adding depth to paper plate crafts, and even more so when making paper plate crafts for Christmas.

Why make a regular paper plate Santa (we’ve made a few already) when you can make one that almost doubles as a toy! Or a decoration even if you hang it on a string – it makes a pretty cute classroom or home decoration if you ask us.

This little guy isn’t just for making and looking at, when it’s done you can push it and it will sway left, right and even slightly forward or backward, depending on how you push it.

Are you ready to make this? It’s super easy (and if you have kids of different ages, you can try different characters, Santa is a little trickier with the beard, but you can do penguins or reindeer with younger kids, easy as pie).

How to make a seesaw Santa Claus from a paper plate

What you need:

• paper plate (one paper plate will make two Santa Clauses)
• red paint
• beige paper (or beige paint)
• white paper
• black paper (or black paint)
• wobbly eye patches or googly eyes
• glue (older kids can also use a stapler for paper plates)
• drag

Follow the step-by-step instructions

Paint the paper plate red.

Let the paint dry.

Fold the paper plate in half and cut it in half.

Just half is enough to make a Santa paper plate.

Fold into a cone, apply glue to one end and glue the other end on top (forming a cone shape).

Press firmly and wait for the glue to set. We often use clothespins to hold the shape while the glue dries and we continue with the other steps of the craft.

Older children who already know how to use a safety stapler can use one for this step.

Cut or punch a circle from beige paper.

Glue the beige circle onto the cone of the paper plate.

Glue the beard and circle.

Cut a strip of black paper…

…and glued it onto Santa. Of course, we realized, after doing this, that it was better to glue the strip of paper first and then the beard ;).

You can also achieve black belt.

Cut off excess paper.

Cut a strip of white paper and stick it on the head.

Glue two fake eyes on.

And a red pompom on the nose.

Cut out a small white circle (or you can also use a white shuttlecock with glue dots).

Stick it on top of the Santa Claus paper plate.
