Spring is butterfly time and if you’re looking for a fun after school (or during school) activity, why not make these butterfly paper bracelets for kids!
We have printable templates (along with simple instructions) that kids can decorate themselves to create their own unique project. Fun, easy, and economical!
*This article contains affiliate links*Oh butterflies! We love them! And we love pretty paper jewelry too. We’ve shared a bunch of paper rings (just check out these printable paper beetle rings) and recently started making paper bracelets too – you really loved our paper heart bracelet. And when you love the heart bracelet as much as you do, this butterfly is right up your alley.
This is the perfect creative craft activity for kids in spring because it’s really easy to make, allows kids to get creative when designing their own paper bracelets and because the bracelet strings aren’t glued together they can be worn for many occasions.
We decorated with markers (don’t you love those vibrant colors?) but you can use all sorts of different coloring materials – from colored pencils to watercolors and you could even add a gem or two (perfect for drawing butterflies).
We’ve decorated two of these butterfly crafts, just to show you a little variety. You can make your butterfly bracelet super simple (preschool, kindergarten) or add lots and lots of detail (there’s really no age limit). How to make butterfly paper bracelets for kids

Print our template on thicker printer paper (you can get the template at the end of this tutorial).
Decorate the butterflies below the bracelet. I drew the details with a black marker.
And color it in with markers. No matter what coloring tools your child chooses, the butterfly bracelet will look stunning.Carefully cut out the butterfly. Also, cut the bracelet out.Take the butterfly again, there is a dashed line down the middle of the butterfly’s body. Cut along that line to cut the butterfly in half.Apply glue to the bracelet – on the “half-empty butterfly shape”.Glue half a colored butterfly onto the bracelet.Do the same on the other side.
There are also dotted lines on the bracelet – going halfway through each end of the bracelet. Cut along those dotted lines. Now for the “making the bracelet” part – you need to do this with the bracelet on your wrist. This can be a little tricky so it’s best to have someone else put the bracelet on your wrist. What you need to do is thread the bracelet in and thread one strand into the other (the ones you cut on the bracelet, along the dotted lines).
And that’s all there is to it. Your butterfly bracelet is ready to wear.
