We love spreading the love through DIY Valentine’s Day ideas for kids and are excited to add this one to our collection.
You can make this card yourself or as a valentine decoration for your home, it’s really easy to make and has a great wow factor.
These little paper swirls look like roses, a perfect flower to use in your Valentine’s Day crafts.
Ready to make your own? Print out our craft template and get started!
What you need:
You can use any color for the base card, we used white construction paper in this tutorial. You can make any shape you want, square or rectangle. We think square looks best, unless you are also adding a message to the card.
Use a pencil to draw a heart shape on paper.
Cut a circle out of colored cardstock (we have a template for this at the end of this tutorial if you need help). Cut into a spiral shape.
Take the quilling paper and start rolling from the outer edge.
Continue rolling in a spiral until you reach the center.
Secure the rose by gluing the top of the paper spiral and pushing it under the flower (glueing the bottom). White school glue works best.
Press the paper roll into the center, this will help secure and glue all parts of the rose.
Done with your roses? Take your card stock and start gluing them inside the heart pattern you drew on the card stock. It’s best to start gluing them along the outer edge of the heart.
Glue paper roses to the heart shape.
Once you have finished stuffing the heart, set the card aside for a moment to let the glue dry.
Take 4 thin strips of colored paper and glue them along the edges of the card to make it more beautiful.
And done!
