Simple Groundhog Day Craft

I’ve always thought Groundhog Day was pretty fun (even more so after watching the movie by the same name ha), so to celebrate this quirky holiday, I wanted to share an idea for a simple Groundhog Day craft you can do with your kids.

Use scissors to cut a small slit in the bottom of a plastic cup, big enough to fit a popsicle stick into. Pull each cotton ball out into a circle. Place the cotton balls in a row on a table. Squeeze the glue up and down all over the cup. The easiest and cleanest way to add cotton to a cup is to roll it! Place the cup on the first cotton ball and roll it over the next one until the cup is covered. Glue the cotton to the rim of the cup. Cut out the body, arms, and ears of the meerkat from brown construction paper. Refer to our photo for the shape! Glue the ears and arms in place, I attached one arm facing up so the meerkat would give a cute wave when he popped out of the cup! Add the eyes. Glue the meerkat to the popsicle stick. Place the meerkat down inside the cup and thread the popsicle stick through the slit in the bottom of the cup. Use the popsicle stick to push him up and down!
