We’re starting to see greenery here and even some flowers (still left over from last year, though), so we thought it would be fun to make our own flower patch and create create a finger painting in this spring meadow.
Finger painting is great for all ages – I love it – it allows you to be creative in a slightly messy way, I mean don’t love that (obviously the clean up but for now forget this).
The best way to do this project is to use green paper – you know it’s grass but it would be just as fun if done on white paper.
So first we drew a few flowers – white and pink flowers with 4 to 5 finger drawn petals. We must have the yellow spot in the middle! Next comes the error! A few yellow and red blobs here and there and we’ll soon turn them into adorable bugs. If you’re going to use white paper as a background, you can also add other insects and creatures – like a green caterpillar, a spider (Okay, this will work with green). tree but amazing!), a green grasshopper. We could also create ants, butterflies, beetles but somehow we decided on ladybugs and bees…
Now that we have our points (or dots), it’s time to get creative with black marker! Add a few legs, some spots, and an eye or two and you’ve got super cute works of art to display in your living room. If you have younger children, you can do this for them if they are not yet proficient enough with pens, or let them do this project from start to finish.
With thousands of crafts, activities, worksheets, coloring pages, and drawing guides to print, you’ll always have the resources you need at hand. Perfect for both parents and teachers!
