How to make swirly lion crafts for kids

What you need:

  • our printable template (optional) or hand-drawn lion head
  • white printing paper
  • cardboard in any color of your choice
  • drag
  • glue

Step-by-step instructions

Get a pre-colored template or let your child add black and white.

Then, find some sturdy paper for the background (we’re using green cardstock) and cut a few strips from colorful paper (we’re using orange for the mane).

Have the children cut off the lion’s head.

Ask them to draw the head in pencil on cardboard. This step is optional but will make things easier.

Then let the children apply glue to the lion’s head.

Encourage children to start gluing strips of paper in a circular shape.

Then, have your child start rolling strips of paper to make the lion’s mane.

Apply glue to the end of the rolled paper strip.

Then have them tape it to the cardboard so it stays in place.

Have your child repeat the steps with all the strips of paper.

And finally, stick them on top in the middle.

The swirly lion paper craft is complete!
