When it comes time to make cute Christmas crafts, you may feel a little bored with the same ones you’ve been making for a while.

It’s always a great time to try a new craft that no one has ever done before. If you’re looking for a craft for your classroom or for your kids to do, this is it! The amount of fine motor skills kids get to practice when putting this craft together is amazing!

As always, just because the tissue paper ends up green doesn’t mean the kids have to choose that color. Part of the fun of crafting is making the colors work for THEM. Let them be creative and create a memorable Christmas tree they won’t soon forget.

How to make a Christmas tree with tissue paper Paper plate crafts

What you need:

  • Paper plate
  • Tissue paper
  • Glue
  • Drag
  • tassel
  • Ice cream stick
  • Glitter paper

Step by step instructions

You’ll start this fun little craft by taking a paper plate and cutting it. Seems pretty simple, right?

First, cut the paper plate in half.

After cutting the paper plate in half, you will cut it into shapes that look like a pizza slice or a tree. Simple right?

Take glue and stick it to the back of the cut paper plate piece.

Gently start adding tissue paper. You can create a pattern here or you can just choose to place the squares anywhere.

Continue to place the squares of tissue paper on top of the glue.

You may need to add a little more glue on top of the tissue paper to continue applying multiple layers.

As you can see, this craft looks more and more like a tree.

Now you will want to take the popsicle stick and glue it to the back of the paper plate piece.

Finally it’s time to add the glitter paper star! Kids will love this part.

Now the children can decorate the tree.

Red pom poms are the decoration of choice here, but you can use your imagination.

You can do as much as you want.
