Tissue Paper Roses

Need a quick fancy gift for grandma? Or just make some beautiful crafts? Make a bouquet of roses using tissue paper!

The great thing about flower crafts is that your children have fun making them and they make a great children’s gift for loved ones.

These would go great with any type of tissue – you can use napkins, paper towels, crepe paper…

For this flower craft, we used red napkins because we always have extra napkins around – maybe leftovers from a package we bought or a souvenir from a visit to relatives (they always have the most beautiful napkins!).

What you will need!

  • any type of tissue
  • drag
  • glue
  • green straw

Start by cutting out the petal shape (in whatever size you want your petals to be) with a square “stem” (let’s just call it that) at the bottom as shown on the first image . If you’re using napkins, remember to separate all the layers – we’ll use them one at a time. We ended up using about 12 petals per rose but there’s really no rule – if you want a fuller rose, you can use more!

Add a little glue to the stem and clamp it together as shown in the 3rd picture above.

Take another petal, apply a little glue to the stem and stick it on the first petal – the second petal overlaps half of the first petal (as you can see in the last picture above). Pinch at the bottom to let the glue set. Continue with the third petal, which overlaps the second petal. Rinse and repeat with all other petals.

Once you’re done adding the petals and have a nice rose shape, apply a generous amount of glue to the stem. Push it down into the straw you cut earlier as shown in the picture above – this will make it easier to insert the flower into the stem and it will help keep the shape of the rose.
