Toilet Paper Roll Chinese Dragon

Celebrate Chinese New Year or Chinese New Year with your kids with this fun recycling project: craft Chinese dragon toilet paper rolls. We love crafts, but we love them even more when we have the opportunity to use up materials that would otherwise end up in the trash.

This Moon Dragon toilet paper roll craft is pretty easy to make, although it does require good scissor skills, so keep that in mind.

Once the craft is complete, you can also add a string and hang it up; It will swirl and dance in the air in a unique way.

Its shape is like being transformed into a Chinese dragon, right?

How to make Chinese dragon toilet paper rolls

What you need:

  • toilet paper roll
  • pencil
  • drag
  • paint (red, yellow and blue or other suitable colors)
  • paint brush
  • glue
  • colored paper (red and yellow or other suitable colors)
  • two innocent eyes

Step-by-step instructions

You will need a single roll of toilet paper. Additionally, you can also use kitchen paper towel rolls or even buy paper rolls to make crafts for kids.

Paint the entire toilet paper roll. We painted ours red.

Wait for the paint to dry. You can have your child cut in or use a pencil to draw a spiral around the roll as a cutting guide.

Cut all the way around. Make one of the ends rounded.

This will be the head of this Chinese dragon profession.

You can leave the inside as is or repaint it.

Decorate the dragon’s body – you can have your child draw a few dots. We made ours yellow, yellow will look great too.

Add a pair of googly eyes to the head.

Cut two small triangles from yellow paper and glue them above the eyes.

Then, have children cut out fire shapes from red paper.

And another similar but smaller shape in orange paper and a smaller shape in yellow paper. Younger kids can only make one.

Ask them to glue these together.

Then, stick the fire under the head.

Cut a similar shape for the tail.

Cut one or two legs out of yellow paper and glue them to the body.

The Chinese dragon toilet paper roll craft is finished!

Do you like how it turned out?
