This special heart-shaped flower craft is great as both a V-day craft and a craft to celebrate Mother’s Day. Or because it’s a lovely thing to celebrate someone special on any day.

How to make this flower full of love

What you need

  • construction paper comes in pink, red, purple or any color you choose
  • green construction paper (you can use green craft sticks or green paper straws)
  • drag
  • glue

Step-by-step instructions

Take a sheet of paper and cut a strip (on the shorter side) about 3.5 inches / 9 cm wide. You can make it smaller or larger.

Fold the strip in half (along the longer side) and cut it in half to get two equal length strips.

The hard work is done.

Apply glue to the end of one of the paper strips.

Glue them together at a right angle. Apply a little glue on top of where the two strips of paper are glued together.

Take the other end of the paper strip and fold it towards the part you applied the glue to. Gently press the glue to fix it.

Repeat with the other end.

You’ve got the heart shape as the background for our love flower.

Take a wide strip of green paper and carefully roll it into a tree trunk (apply glue at the end).

If you are working with younger children they may find this step too difficult to do on their own, instead they can paint the craft stick green and use it as a tree trunk or use colored paper straws green.

Now let’s complete this flower craft. Apply glue to the stem and gently press the heart-shaped flower on the stem. Wait for the glue to harden.

Take a small piece of green construction paper, fold it in half.

Cut a circle in half, unfold it and you will have a beautiful looking leaf.

Stick it on your love craft filled flower.

Make a complete bouquet with your child and surprise a beloved family member or friend.

Implementing these in the classroom would make a great project to make a spring-themed bulletin board.
