How to make a simple paper heart wreath

What you need:

  • pencil
  • drag
  • glue
  • colored paper (we recommend different shades of pink and purple)
  • paperboard

Step-by-step instructions

Start by having your child take a piece of brown cardboard and fold it in half.

Next, have students draw half a heart along the folded edge, then, inside that heart, draw another, smaller heart.

Now cut them along the inside line.

And the road outside.

Open the paper to reveal a wide heart-shaped border.

Gather different shades of pink and purple (or other colors) paper. Have children put several pieces of paper together and then fold them in half.

Ask the children to draw half a heart shape along the folded edge of the stacked papers and cut along the lines.

When they opened the paper, there it was, a little heart shape ready to use!

Cut them a lot, they can be the same size and color or can be made in different colors and sizes.

Have children apply glue to the brown heart shape.

Glue them onto the heart shape on the base.

There are heart shapes all around.

You can let the kids fill in the blanks with tiny hearts (paper punches are perfect for making these).

Children can get creative with patterns and arrangements, and layer hearts to create a vignette effect.

Once the glue dries, your simple paper heart wreath is ready to display.

We love how it turned out!

Will your child give it to you on Valentine’s Day or Mother’s Day?
