Tree Craft with Real Branches and Leaves

We love making crafts using natural materials; This time we made tree crafts with real branches and leaves! This art project idea can be done all year round, but it is best done in the fall with preserved leaves, because this way this work of art will last for quite a long time.

But you can also use green leaves; Even though it will wilt at some point, the fun is still going on and you can always take a photo of the end result and have the kids cherish it for years to come.

What we love about this project is that it encourages children to explore outside as they gather all the materials needed to make their tree. You can also take this opportunity to teach the kids about all the local trees and other vegetation.

How to make a handmade tree with real branches and leaves

What you need:

  • glue
  • cover paper
  • real leaves
  • a branch

Step-by-step instructions

We recommend using cardstock or even cardboard for this project.

Start by gluing the branch to the cardboard. This makes up our stem.

Now, it’s time to add some good leaves to your plant!

Expand your tree’s canopy by adding leaves of different shapes, sizes, and colors.

Just like a diverse forest, add leaves from other plants to give your plants a unique flair. Because, why not.

Apply a little glue to the bottom of the paper to create a forest floor texture, bringing your tree art to life.

You can also add some fallen leaves.

And voila! You have completed your beautiful tree creation with real branches and leaves!

Now, you can display your masterpiece for everyone to see.

Remember to take a photo if you don’t use dried leaves.
