Need a fun crazy project for Independence Day? Why not make a DIY USA Star pencil or two (or three)!
Make your own pencil topper!
What you will need:
- craft foam – red, white and blue sheets
- pen and paper
- scissors (or craft knife)
- glue (preferably a glue gun – you can use low temperature glue if you’re doing crafts with kids).
- pencil
First let’s create a template for the star. The easiest way to do this and create nicely stacked stars is to draw a star within a star within a star (complicated much?). Start by drawing the smallest star. Now draw the medium sized star around the small star and complete things by drawing the largest star surrounding the two smaller stars.
Cut out the biggest star. Draw an outline on the craft foam (or just cut around the star). Create as many stars as you want and in as many colors as you want.
When you finish cutting the largest star – cut the middle star. Draw the outline on the craft foam… Rinse and repeat with the smallest star.
Now that you have your stars ready, it’s time to assemble them. Apply glue as shown in the picture above (the picture shows white glue which proved to be really ineffective – we ended up using a glue gun and it worked like a charm.
Place the middle star on top of the big star. Complete it with the smallest star.
So there you have it, an adorable DIY USA star pencil ornament set! Perfection is all around you on the 4th of July!
