Whether you’re celebrating love or friendship, Valentine’s Day is the perfect day to give small gifts that show affection. While we think friendship (and love) should be celebrated every day, there’s nothing wrong with taking the time to make it extra special on special days.

Valentine’s Day is also a great time to do all sorts of heart-themed activities with your kids, and if they want to make something for their friends, these Valentine’s Day gifts are the perfect choice.

If you’re a teacher looking for a quick and cheap Valentine’s Day gift to give your students, this one is perfect (we’ll share a dinosaur version too). It’s fun, pun-y, and comes with a little toy that you can pick up at the dollar store (Dollar Tree and Dollar General usually have these in stock year-round).

You can also buy them online, we’ll share our favorites in the materials list)

How to Make a Wild Valentine’s Day

Print Valentine cards on thicker paper – this will make it easier and quicker to do.

You can also print them on regular printer paper and use wallpaper or colorful wallpaper as the background for the card.

Use scissors or a box cutter to cut each card.

If you’re printing them on plain paper or just want a colorful background for added contrast, cut out rectangles from colorful paper.

We like textured paper because it really makes the card stand out. You will need to make the rectangle a little larger than the printable cards.

Glue the printable cards to the base. Glue works best because it won’t wet or wrinkle the paper.

Use glitter tape or washi tape to attach small wildlife to each card.

Some small animal toy sets also come with a book containing information and facts about the animals.

Why not cut out those facts and glue them to the back of the card. This way your students not only have a fun toy to play with, but also learn something new about the animal on the card.

Your cards are ready to enjoy. They’re perfect for classroom exchanges!
