20 Spring Activities for Kids

Now that temperatures are rising, outdoor (and some indoor) spring activities for kids are a must! I really hope you enjoy this list as it took me a lot of time and effort to come up with some unique ideas along with some great activities from other talented bloggers.

Fun spring activities for kids

1. Make a flower crown – we do this every year with daisies and it’s so much fun. We braided them like braids, adding new flowers as we went.

2. Punch flowers and make a flower encyclopedia, also known as a herbarium. Great for learning about local flowers.

3. Watch things grow! Plant a bean or any other fast-growing plant and watch it grow! I really like this bean growing project from Life at the Zoo.

4. Make unique garden markers – even if you don’t have a garden this would be a fun project for kids – these plant markers are a lovely example (Adventure in a Box).

5. Warm day? Bring some food and have a picnic – even if it takes place in the living room.

6. Make a garden for your child! If you have a garden, set aside a small plot for your kids and let them pick their own vegetables or fruit to grow (along with some fancy decorations). If you don’t have a garden, you can always have a small indoor garden in a larger flower pot.

7. Spring scavenger hunt – make a list of things for kids to find! Daffodils, flower buds, animals, different plants, rocks are just some ideas.

8. Spring has many rainy days, so why not buy a white umbrella and paint it with waterproof colors? Your child can have their own super unique umbrella!

9. Children’s favorite game – puddle jumping. But wait, you can take puddle jumping to the next level like Lemon Lime Adventures did.

10. Write a rain diary. Set out a measuring bowl (you can just use an old plastic bottle with the top cut off and take the measurements).

11. Make a fairy garden – outside or in a pot. Your kids can even grow a flower or two like their favorite fairies!

12. Make the moss happy – yes, you read that right and this has to be the best thing ever! I’m sure you can find moss somewhere around your house, and if you don’t want to get creative with your walls (totally understand that), you can also try this on wood (large planks , pallets…).

13. Go color hunting for photos! Spring is the season of color. Give your child a camera and a list of colors they have to photograph – the more the merrier – red for ladybugs, yellow for daffodils, green for grass! I bet they can find every color there is! Or you can ask them to take a photo of the 7 rainbow colors and you can create a rainbow collage when you’re done.

14. Buy a white pillowcase (or any uni color) and some woven colors (they’re cheap) and leaf, tree, fern colors (they’re great) and print them on the pillowcase.

15. Go for a walk and pick some tree branches. Get creative with them – this twig art is just one of many great ideas (Red Ted Art).

16. Have a rainy day! Do not worry! You can bring spring into your home by making crafts with spring flowers.

17. Make mud cakes. Spring mud is the best. Serious!

18. A great and fun spring activity for kids is making Happy Hooligans.

19. Make a whistle from willow. This was my favorite as a kid – I had so many!

20. Go insect hunting – with a camera or even create your own insect habitat to observe them (you can buy insect habitat kits or just create your own habitat with compost, soil and plants).
