The Chinese dragon has always been one of our most beloved mythical creatures – colorful and majestic.

How to make a Chinese dragon pop up card

What you need:

Step by step instructions

Step 1

Print out the template. There are several sizes of templates available, both pre-colored and black and white for kids to color.

If you print in black and white, the first thing to do is color the template.

Step 2

Cut out the card – cut along the rectangular outline.

Step 3

Fold the card in half, following the dotted lines on the card. Fold it nice and crisp.

Step 4

Next comes the cutting. Find the zigzag line that lies between the dragon’s teeth.

Cut along that line.

Step 5

Next is the fold. Find the dashed line that runs along the contour of the face.

Fold along that line (it doesn’t matter which way you fold) – just make sure the creases are nice and crisp. Run your fingers over the creases a few times.

Open up!

Step 6

Gently unfold the card (open it wide).

Step 7

Next, we need a piece of construction paper that is the same size or larger than the rectangle with the template.

In our case (the smallest sized card) – half an A4 sheet of paper will do.

Fold the card in half.

Step 8

Apply glue to one side of the folded pattern.

Stick it inside the card.

Apply glue to the other side of the template.

Close the card and wait for the glue to dry.

Done! Your Chinese dragon pop up card is complete.
