We’re all giddy with anticipation for the holiday season, and craft-wise it’s definitely our favorite time of year! We’re so excited to add this adorable stick Christmas tree craft to our collection of Christmas tree craft ideas!

There’s nothing better than simple and easy crafts and this is definitely it! You can make it simple enough for preschoolers to do or detailed enough that older kids can enjoy it too!

Let’s make a Christmas tree from wooden sticks

What you need

  • 4 large craft sticks
  • green cardstock / craft paper
  • green craft paint
  • glue
  • shiny gold
  • pom pom ball
  • silver glitter star sticker
  • foam paint brush
  • glue (low temperature glue gun, white school glue or other)

Any other decorative materials are welcome.

Step by step instructions

Carefully glue three large craft sticks together in a triangle shape using white school glue or a hot glue gun. Older children can use a regular glue gun.

Trace the outline of a triangle onto green cardboard, cut it out with scissors and glue it to the back of the triangle.

Paint the front of the triangle green and let dry. You can paint the craft sticks before gluing them together.

Then glue a large craft stick to the back so that the bottom sticks out from a flat surface like a chest. Starting to look pretty neat, right?

Glue or tape the star to the top point.

Using glue, draw a wreath horizontally starting at the bottom corner of the tree and working your way up to the top.

Cover with glitter and shake excess glitter into the trash (or save it by pouring it back into the glitter jar).

If you don’t like glitter (we understand), use glitter glue instead – it won’t be as shiny and shiny but it will save you the risk of glitter splatter (glitter flying everywhere).
