We can’t stop making hedgehog crafts this fall (we have a few more to share with you), and if you and your kids love hedgehogs, we’ve got enough ideas on the site to keep you crafting all week long.

This paper strip craft idea is great for classroom crafts because you will get adorable hedgehogs.

I am a fan of hedgehogs (as you may have noticed), and have been for a long time. These little forest dwellers are regular visitors to our yard and they are always fun to watch. And listen to… It is amazing how such a small animal can make noises that you would think only an elephant could make. Fun little creatures.

Let’s get back to this clever activity, shall we?

Or follow these step-by-step instructions

Cut a bunch of strips of brown paper. We used a piece of letter/A4 paper cut to the width of our strips. They are about the width of a finger. There are no rules about size and not all the strips need to be the same. Keep it fun.

Once you have enough strips of paper (preferably when you feel you have enough because you can always add more later), tape the ends of the strips together to form a loop. Repeat with all the strips.

Take a white (or other colored) background and start gluing strips of paper in a semicircle shape.

We start from the outer edge and work our way to the center (we highly recommend watching the video tutorial). Once you are happy with the shape of your hedgehog spines, set them aside.

Cut a circular body from beige paper – you may need to measure it against the spikes to get the right size. Cut out the legs and glue them to the back of the body.

Now stick the oval head onto the white paper, gently pushing it into the spike to let the glue set.

Draw facial features, a big smile, a nose and oval eyes. We used wiggle eye stickers because they are fun.
