Making an agamograph is definitely a fun game for both kids and adults. Kids need to color two different pictures, changing them across the page to create the agamograph effect.

In this pack, we’ve prepared a fun tour through the life cycle of a butterfly. The printable design is made up of four different images. On the first page, there are the first two stages of a butterfly’s evolution – the egg on one side and the caterpillar on the other. And on the second page, there is a chrysalis and an adult butterfly to color.

The beauty of this particular agamograph design is that you can glue the two together (after you’re done coloring and folding) and complete the entire cycle in one paper craft.

You can choose to color the alternating images (the original agamographs) or you can print a second version, where kids need to color the entire image and then cut out parts of each image to create adorable agamograph artwork.

This printable butterfly life cycle design will help your children learn about the evolution of this beautiful insect and encourage them to make their own agamograph.

Coloring the agamograph pattern – first we start by coloring all the leaves.Svg%3E

After coloring the image, cut it out nicely.Svg%3E

We need some lines along the lines, so we use a readily available object – a wooden stick with a pointed end. You can also use a ruler or any sharp tool to create this effect.Svg%3E

Now we need some good folds. Use the accordion fold technique and press each piece of the agamograph “puzzle” firmly.Svg%3E

Repeat all of the above steps with the second part of the butterfly life cycle agamograph template. Once both templates are colored and folded, it is time to glue the artwork together.Svg%3E

Place the second page of the folded agamograph on top of the remaining page and press them together.Svg%3E
