Welcome summer with this fun crab craft idea! We love making all kinds of bookmarks (because reading is great) but origami corner bookmarks are our favorite.
As the temperatures here are steadily rising and we’re getting used to summer, we thought it would be a good time to start making some ocean animal bookmarks (we already have a shark corner bookmark on site).
There are quite a few sea creatures that we will share with you, as well as many other cool designs (just scroll down to the bottom of this page for more ideas and inspiration for your designs).
This craft idea is perfect to do at home, in the classroom (preschoolers and older kids can fold it easily, preschoolers will need more time and may need help), at book clubs, etc.
These are fun homemade gifts that anyone would be happy to receive.

Or follow this step-by-step folding guide
Fold the origami paper in half diagonally. You will have a triangle.
The colored side should be on the outside if you are using origami paper.
At the top of the triangle, grab the top (top) sheet of paper and fold it towards the bottom.
You will see a white square.
Now you need to fold the right and left corners of the triangle to the center of the bottom of the triangle (the right corner should touch the center of the bottom – both corners should meet in the middle).
Open.
Now follow the same two corners to the top.
Place them in the formed bag.
You’ve just made an origami corner bookmark! Now let’s turn it into a crab.
Turn the ordinary into corner bookmarks
Cut two crab claws out of red paper and glue them to the back of the bookmark in the corner.
Cut 8 small legs and glue them inside the bookmark in the corner.
Glue or draw eyes and you’re done.
You can also add a mouth or other facial details :).
