We have another great and quick Christmas craft to share with you, today we are going to make this simple wooden stick Christmas tree craft. This craft is perfect for both younger kids (preschool and kindergarten) as it is a good fine motor exercise as well as older kids as it can get really, really pretty. Christmas tree craft sticks
What you need
- Craft sticks – natural or pre-colored
- blue wool
- glue
- tassel
- optional: clothespin
You can adjust the “how to” section of this guide – depending on your child’s skill level.
Take 3 green craft sticks (or paint them green). Place them so that they form a triangle and glue two of them together (you can also glue all 3 sticks together now to form a triangle, but it will take longer to wrap the yarn). Let the glue set.
Tie yarn to the top of the triangle. Add glue along the craft sticks.
Begin “wrapping” the yarn, forming a figure 8, around the craft stick. Work your way down slowly, not too tightly. When you reach the bottom, tie a knot. Add more glue to secure the yarn if needed.
Glue the shuttlecocks to decorate the tree.
You can leave it as is or add a clothespin to make a trunk.
