This is a really easy project to do, one that will always end up with a beautiful Christmas card, no matter who does it or what colors you use to make the card.
How to make 3D paper decorative Christmas cards
What you need:
- card base (you can make it from cardboard)
- black paper (plain printer paper or cardboard)
- paper of various colors (regular printer paper is best)
- glue
- drag
- round hole punch (preferably this, you can also cut circles)
Step by step instructions
Punch or cut multiple paper circles from the same or different colored paper.
The size of the circles is irrelevant – measure them against the card and see which size works best for you.
We cut 4 different colors for our project. There is no set number of circles for this project, the more you use, the fuller your Christmas card decoration will be.
Set aside a circle.
Fold the remaining circles in half.Take the card base and glue it to the circle you set aside earlier.Cut out a small black rectangle and glue it on top of the circle.Alternatively, cut a long, super thin strip of black paper and tape it over the square.Alternatively, you can also draw these details in with a black, gold or silver marker.
Take the first folded circle, glue one half and stick it on top of the paper circle already glued on the card (see image below).
Continue folding other paper circles.Add as many as you like, as you go you’ll get a pretty good idea of what your final card will look like.Once you are happy with the size of the sphere, apply glue to the other side of the last half circle of paper you glued on…
…and glue it to the card base.Done! You have created a beautiful 3D paper ornament Christmas card.
It’s super simple to make and if you have a paper punch the project will be super quick too. This game is also great to do in the classroom as kids love using a paper hole punch to punch holes.Want instant access to all of our printable crafts, activities, and resources?
