DIY Corner Bookmarks – Cute Monsters

Books will be so much more fun when your kids make their own cute monster corner bookmarks!

Isn’t this the cutest thing ever? This is also a great beginner origami for kids!

The inspiration for this one came from this pin on Pinterest (I actually tried to find the source but was unsuccessful). When I saw this Pin, it brought back memories of when we used to do these with my mom when I was little – however, they weren’t as cute and we used spam.

Now, there are actually two ways (probably more to be honest) to do these – one super easy as you’ll see in the photo tutorial here, and one a little more difficult – though Not too much, of course – as you’ll see in the next section. Instructional video folded below.

Let’s do this!

How to fold a bookmark in a DIY corner

You’ll need a sheet of paper (preferably origami paper), scissors, decorations, and glue to create your monster or any other creature your heart desires.

Start by folding the paper in half.

Fold the left and right corners to the middle point. Cut off the excess and cut in the middle so you get two triangles.

Open them – you’ve got yourself two squares that will soon turn into two monster bookmarks!

Fold the square in half – you get a rectangle – fold it in half again and you get a smaller square. Open it.

We also have a video tutorial for this rabbit set

Instructions for marking Origami corners with video

When you open the small square, you will see 4 small squares inside the opened square – cut one out as shown in the image below.

Now cut two adjacent squares from the one you cut out as shown in the picture (diagonally across the square).

Fold the little triangles inwards – apply a little glue inside and voila!

Well, all that’s left to do is cut out some eyes, tongue, teeth, tentacles, horns… And stick them on your monster!
