DIY Wooden Key Chain

I would be completely lost without my super-sized key chain (I still misplace my keys more often than I care to admit)! And that’s the beauty of DIY wooden key chains – you can make it as big as you need!

This is a great craft for both kids and adults – or a fun joint project!

What you need;

  • wooden blocks – you can buy them at the store or make them yourself as it’s really easy. I hadn’t used a saw since I was a kid and quickly made a ton of blocks (which we’ll be using in upcoming projects, too!)
  • sandpaper to sharpen edges
  • white (or any other color your heart desires)
  • permanent mark
  • something to drill holes (I used a Dremel rotary tool)

Wherever you get your block of wood, the first thing you want to do is sand the edges (you can also sand the surface to make it super smooth but I like the texture that way).

Color the surface and let it dry. Once dry drill a hole.

Now that your surface is ready, it’s time to get creative and paint a design or two (or ten).

You can also finish this project by applying gloss varnish to give it a shine.
