What you need

  • craft stick
  • white and yellow cleaning tube
  • yellow and white construction paper
  • yellow and white paint
  • Googly eyes
  • token
  • drag
  • glue

Start by coloring the craft sticks. Let them dry.

While the cutting is dry, cut out a circle from yellow construction paper for the chick’s head (I used a thin roll of masking tape as a circle template) and a white circle with ears for the bunny’s head.

Draw (or glue) a beak, nose, and ears. Glue on a pair of googly eyes (or draw them).

Once the paint on the craft stick is dry, place it in the middle of the pipe cleaner. Start wrapping the pipe cleaner around the stick, twisting it at the back of the craft stick, to make it more “secure” – you can also add a little glue).

Once you have one half done, make the wing by making a loop, as shown above, twisting it a few times at the bottom of the loop (near the craft stick). Continue wrapping the cleaner tube until you are done (or cut it if it is too long). Tuck the loose end under the wrapped cleaner tube (a little glue will work too).

Glue on the head (glue works great) and you have a handmade Easter stick puppet.
