Today we’ll share a fun way you can make some reindeer out of egg cartons to display during Christmas! It’s cute, fun and a great way to recycle egg cartons.
We love sharing all kinds of Christmas craft ideas for kids, and we love it even more when there’s an element of recycling.

How to make reindeer crafts using egg cartons
What you need:
- pencil
- drag
- glue
- egg carton
- cardboard (black, blue, dark brown, white…)
- black marker
- paint (brown)
- paint brush
- two red pom-poms
- white chalk marker
- googly eyes or googly eye stickers
Step-by-step instructions
Background
You can use a sheet of paper as a background (cardboard is best) or you can make a “frame”.
For the frame we made, let the kids cut out a circle out of blue paper. Apply glue to a circle or black background paper.
And paste the blue circle on the black square paper.
Snow
Cut a semicircle the same size as the blue circle. Cut it from white paper to make snow.
Cut a wavy line across the half circle.
Attach it to the blue circle with glue.
Reindeer
Prepare an egg carton.
You will need two raised parts to make a reindeer. So cut them out.
Using markers, ask children to draw a round reindeer face with two ears inside a piece of fabric.
Have them cut out the head shape.
Next, ask them to separate the remaining part by using scissors to cut it in half.
The two pieces are ready to be painted.
Have them use brown paint to cover the pieces.
To create another reindeer, have them follow the previous steps.
Once the paint dries, have them glue the pieces to the background.
Scarf
They can use any colored paper to create small scarves for the two reindeer. We chose red and light blue. Have them cut out the pieces and glue them to the reindeer.
Nose
We love Rudolph the reindeer so we shaped them by gluing them on red pom-poms. Children can choose brown pom-poms or any other color for their noses.
Eyes
Have children add two googly-eyed reindeer to each reindeer.
Clouds
Now, tell your child to take a piece of white paper – fold it in half and draw a cloud shape on it. Then, cut out the shape to get two smooth clouds and glue them to the sky.
Antlers
Reindeer have antlers. Have children fold a piece of dark brown paper twice, draw an antler on it and cut it into shapes to get four antlers.
Ask them to put antlers on the reindeer’s head.
Snowflakes
Use white chalk for children to draw small snowflakes in the sky.
