We’ve already shared how to make paper snowflakes and now it’s time to take things into a whole new dimension.
Although ordinary paper snowflakes are very interesting, they are much more beautiful, and the most important thing is that they are not too complicated to make.
How to make snowflakes with 3D paper
What you need:
- printable template (optional)
- pencil (optional)
- drag
- glue
- white or colored paper (we used light blue and lavender)
Step-by-step instructions
You will need 6 square sheets of paper for one snowflake. They can be the same color, you can use two different colors or even more.
The only important thing is that all the squares need to be the same size.
Fold the square in half diagonally to get a triangle.
Fold the triangle in half again.
Cut into triangles from one side – make three or four evenly spaced cuts. Don’t interrupt. The number of lines you cut depends on the size of the paper, the larger the paper, the larger the cuts.
Carefully unfold the square.
Flatten the square by hand by gently pressing down.
Start from the two innermost cuts/flaps and loop them together.
Apply glue to the joints and glue them together. The first one can be a bit complicated because it’s the smallest but the others will be easier.
You may have to hold them in place for a while to let the glue set.
Turn the paper over.
Take the next pair, loop them together and apply glue.
Flip the square again and repeat the process.
Have the child turn it over again. Bend the flaps, overlap them and glue them together.
Continue until all ends are rolled and glued together.
The first snowflake is done!
Repeat the process with the remaining 5 squares.
Once you’re done preparing, start gluing the circular parts of the snowflake together. Apply glue on the bottom and glue the first two together.
Add another part and paste it.
So there are six in total.
All has been done! If desired, especially if your 3D paper snowflakes are larger, you can also apply glue to the middle of the snowflakes to stick them in place.
This snowflake is perfect for home decoration.
