If you want to give your child a simple origami project, this is also a super useful one – have them make an elephant bookmark.
This is a perfect project for kids to get introduced to origami as it only takes a few steps to make the bookmark, then kids can add a personal touch to it when creating their own elephant.

We love making all sorts of origami corner bookmarks, it’s amazing what can be done with just a little creativity.
These bookmarks are some of the best origami for beginners, they are simple enough that even preschoolers (with a little help) can handle them and since the bookmarks are functional in nature, kids will love them even more. I mean who doesn’t love a cute bookmark in their favorite book?
How to make an elephant corner bookmark
What you need:
- blue or gray origami paper
- blue or gray paper
- black marker
- drag
- glue
- Vibrating eye patches or googly eyes (optional)
Step by step instructions
Prepare a sheet of origami paper. We used blue, but gray, purple (or any other color) would also be great.
A white square inside the triangle will appear.
Repeat with the remaining corner (a diamond shape will form).
Fold the top part into the “pocket”. The corner bookmark is complete. Now let’s turn it into an elephant bookmark.
You can make the ears symmetrical by first folding the paper in half and cutting both ears at the same time.
Glue the tree trunk to the bookmark in the corner.
