Fall brings lots of leaves, making for a great crafting material. Explore the art of drawing autumn leaves with the printable prompts we have prepared for you and your children. With the help of these you will easily create a series of woodland animals, perfect for autumn.

Feaf art projects for kids are one of the best fall activities you can do with your kids. Plan a nature walk and collect leaves from a variety of plants. This is also the perfect opportunity to talk about different types of plants. Although we only used leaves for these purposes, you can also use branches from coniferous trees – some projects will even look better that way.
The printable prompts can be used as is, or you can also have your kids color them. There are 7 different printable leaf art prompts included for you to make:
Leaf fox, by completing the tail with leaves.
A turkey – perfect for Thanksgiving.
Next is the hedgehog, it is suitable to use coniferous or red oak leaves.
Squirrel tails can be made from many different types of leaves.
Smaller leaves are perfect for building a leaf owl.
Willow leaves, ash leaves or rowan leaves are good for making feathers for this bird.
We also have a snake! Mix brown, green and yellow leaves to create a very effective pattern on the snake’s stem.
How to create fall leaf art with printable prompts

- glue (white PVA glue/school glue is great for this project)

Advice: it’s best to let the leaves dry, place them between newspapers and press them down. This will make them straight and will also make them last longer. But there’s nothing wrong with getting creative with fresh leaves.
Step-by-step instructions
For this leaf artwork, it’s best to print the prompt on thicker printer paper or cardboard, especially if you’re working with younger children as they will apply more glue and regular printer paper will wrinkled.
Choose the card that feels right, there are no rules, what feels right is right. Cut off the stem and part of the leaves if necessary.
For the first layer of leaves (if you make more layers), you can apply glue directly to the paper.
Gently press down on the leaf and wait a bit for the glue to set.
For other types of leaves, you can apply glue directly to the leaf.
Similar to the previous leaf, gently press the leaf down to make the glue stick.
You can play with different types of leaves and different colors. We used another leaf to make the tip of the fox’s tail.
