Too much fun, right? We did one for Mother’s Day a while back, so definitely had to do one for Father’s Day.

This article will help dads in the family know that their children love their dads – actually dads already know 😉 but you know, it doesn’t hurt to hear or read it over and over again.

When you look at the agamograph from another angle, another image appears, this time of a tie, a few mustaches, and stars.

How to Make a Father’s Day Agamograph

What you need:

  • our printable template (get it at the end of this guide)
  • coloring supplies – from crayons to markers, anything goes
  • drag
  • optional: scoring tool
  • thicker paper (regular printer paper is best).

Step by step instructions

Start by printing out your template. We recommend using thicker paper because it is not only more durable, but also easier to color with markers (if you choose to color with markers).

However, folding will be a bit more difficult with thicker printer paper, so if working with young children, regular printer paper + crayons is the best choice.

Color the template. To help with coloring, there is also a reference file included that you can use – with the image shown in its entirety.

Once you have finished coloring the agamograph, cut it out.

Tip: To create really nice, straight folds, use a marking tool (or something similar, like a skewer in our case) to trace the lines on the agamograph.

This will make folding easier and the folds will be neater.

Ready to fold? Start on one side (whichever side) and make alternating valley and mountain folds (also known as accordion folds) from one end to the other.

Press down after each fold (you can also run a craft stick over the folds) to make them neat and crisp.

Continue folding until you reach the other end.

Gently pull the two ends to spread the agamograph out a bit and enjoy the sight of the alternating images.
