These Halloween puppets look super fun and more importantly they are super easy to make.

How to make our Halloween puppet pattern

What you need:

  • our printable templates
  • printer paper (heavier/cardboard is best)
  • coloring supplies if printing black and white samples
  • drag
  • glue

Step by step instructions

Print our templates. Print one or all, in color or in black and white. In this tutorial we will show you how to make our black and white paper witch. The other puppets are assembled in a similar way.

When working with black and white Halloween puppets, first color them. Any coloring tool will do, we color them with colored pencils.

Once you have colored all the paper pieces (except two strips), cut them out.

Let’s start making the puppet. Fold the dotted lines on the puppet.

Makes the folds nice and sharp.

Don’t forget the folds inside your mouth.

When you fold the puppet inside the mouth, the puppet’s features will line up.

Next, apply glue to one of the four squares on the puppet that says glue inside.

Bend the paper and glue the square piece of glue to the end of the “jawline”.

Repeat with all remaining 3 squares.

From the other side, this is what you will see.

Next take your hands. Fold along the dotted lines…

…glue the folded part and glue the hand to the witch (bottom part).

Do the same with the ears.

And finally the hat (minus the fold).

Now the witch puppet looks cool, but it’s hard to hold in your hand… This is where the two strips of paper come in handy.

Take one of the strips of paper and fold it over both ends. Apply glue to the folded sections.

And glue the curved strip of paper onto the puppet.

This is the image you need to see, just enough space to fit your finger in.

Do the same with the remaining strip of paper.

Now let’s talk! Your Halloween puppet is ready to play.

Now let’s do Frankenstein and vampires too.
