Let’s tear up some paper and make some crafts! This is an activity that requires little preparation and can be done anytime.
Paper piecing is really a great art project for kids, as each child can create their own unique piece and with a holiday like Halloween, there are so many spooky and cute things kids can do.
All you need to make art from torn paper is a few sheets of paper in different colors (the more colors, the more creative), glue, and maybe a pencil or chalk to sketch out your final piece.
It’s that easy!
Need some ideas? Here are some cute and spooky Halloween torn paper art ideas we created for you:
Torn Paper Ghost Art
Black paper is best for the base, although other colors will work. You will also need a white sheet of paper for the ghost. It is also helpful to use an extra sheet of black paper, as you can leave the eyes “blank” or make them out of torn black paper.
If working on black paper and you want to draw the ghost first, we recommend using white chalk.
Tear white paper into small pieces of different sizes and stick them on the black paper.
Cute bat paper puzzle
For a bat, we choose an orange sheet of paper for the base, a black sheet of paper for the belly, and a white sheet of paper for the eyes.
We draw the bat with white chalk. First, we draw an oval for the body and a circle on the oval for the head. Two pointed triangles are drawn for the ears. Finally, we draw wings on both sides.
Tear black paper into small pieces and fill in the bat shape. Tear two small pieces of white paper and glue them in place for the eyes.
Halloween Spider Torn Paper Art
We made this on a light pink background. You will need black paper, some white paper, and some red paper.
We draw a spider with black chalk. First, we draw a circle. Then we draw 8 lines – 4 lines on each side of the circle. We fill everything with pieces of black paper.
Add some finishing touches – eyes, mouth and a little spider web.
Pumpkin or Jack-o’-lantern
We do this on black paper. You will need a piece of orange paper, some black paper, and some green paper.
Halloween Black Cat Torn Paper Art Ideas
We can’t do Halloween crafts or arts without cats. We’re doing it on an orange background. You’ll need a piece of black paper, some yellow paper, and some pink paper.
We sketch the cat with chalk. First, we draw a triangle from the middle of the paper (approximately) down. We draw a circle with the center at the top of the triangle we drew earlier and two triangles on top for the ears.
Witch
We thought it would be fun to add a witch too! This was a “free” creation on the spur of the moment.
Candy Corn Tear Paper Art Ideas
We sketched it out with white chalk and filled it in with white, yellow and orange torn paper.
There are many more awesome possibilities and we will add them as we create them. Some ideas you can also create include: haunted house, spooky tree, skeleton, vampire, spider web…
