Cat lovers will love this craft idea all year round, but make a black cat and this would be a great Halloween craft to do with your kids. Me? I’m a cat addict! I can make cat crafts all year round without a doubt.

You can use these as Halloween wreaths – just hang them on string or they can stand on their own if you add a coin or pebble inside or make a paper base.

We really enjoy making crafts from these paper strips (we have tons of ideas on the site and keep adding more, it’s amazing how many great things you can make from simple paper strips).

Are you ready to make your own black cat?

Or follow the step-by-step instructions below

We are working with 2 sheets of letter size (A4) paper.

You will need to cut 4 short strips of paper and 4 longer strips of paper (the strips should be about a finger wide, younger children will cut wider, older children can cut thinner and use even more strips).

For long strips, we create them by cutting letter/A4 size paper along its length.

We made the shorter ones by cutting letter/A4 paper to its width.

Line up the short strips and the long strips (separately). Gently bend in half to mark the middle of the strips (you can also do one strip at a time).

Svg%3E

Start with one length. Glue two strips on top of each other (crossing them in the middle – at the crease where you bend them).

Glue the remaining two pieces together to form a “snowflake” shape.

Now, roll the strips back up and tape the ends together.

Wrap and glue all the strips together, you will form a paper ball.

Repeat with the remaining ball.

Allow the glue to dry before continuing.

Apply a generous amount of glue to the bottom of one of the balls.

Glue two paper balls together.

You will have to hold them together for a while to give the glue time to set.

Decorate!

Cut two triangles for the ears. You can decorate them with pink paper.

Fold into an L shape (pointed end on top), apply glue and stick on top of the smaller ball.

Cut a small pink triangle for the nose and glue it to the paper ball.

Cut two eyes out of yellow cardboard, draw eye details and glue onto head.

You can also add a mustache.

Cut the tail out of the black paper.

Glue it to the back of the larger paper ball.

If you want your paper strip cat to stand on its own, cut a round base and glue it to the bottom of a large paper ball (or you can also glue a coin inside).
