We’re ready to celebrate Mother’s Day and our adorable Mother’s Day Handprint Butterfly Craft, a photo keepsake will truly make the day memorable.
This project is suitable for all ages – you can do it with handprints or have older children draw the butterfly wings (or use tissue paper, beads or any other material).

This adorable Mother’s Day craft is also great to do in the classroom! When working with younger children, have them handprint on a separate sheet of paper, then cut out the outlines of their handprints and glue them onto the template frame. Of course, you can also have them handprint directly inside the template.
Butterflies can have one set of wings (two handprints) or two sets (four handprints).
How to Make a Handprint Butterfly Craft for Mother’s Day
What you need:
Step by step instructions
Print sample – butterfly frame and body.
We will start by making the wings. You can ask your child to stamp their hand onto the template (or a separate piece of paper) or ask them to draw around their hand on a piece of colored paper.
Cut out the hand shape. We made 2 sets of handprints for this, one blue and one orange.
Apply glue to the palm of your hand…
And glue it inside the frame.
Do the same with the remaining wings.
Apply glue to the back of the butterfly body.
And glue it to the frame – between the pair of handprint butterfly wings.
Last but not least, glue a photo inside the butterfly’s head.
There is also a form that does not require a portrait photo of the child.
