How to make a handmade tree with handprints
What you need:
- pencil
- drag
- glue
- Newspapers, old utility bills, or old damaged books
- cardboard (white and black)
- hand painted
- paint brush
- sponge brush
- black marker
Step-by-step instructions
Prepare a blank sheet of paper. You can use regular printer paper for this. Cardstock is fine too.
This is where the canopy will be made.
Start by painting the paper green.
There are many ways your child can go about adding something extra to the tree, whether realistic or abstract. You can make an apple tree filled with red and yellow apples.
A round sponge brush is perfect for the job.
If your child likes abstract art, give them more colors.
Let them skin go! They can also use their fingers to make this project more personal.
Once they are satisfied with the look of their artwork, set it aside to let the paint dry.
After the paint dries, cut out oval or circle shapes.
Glue this tree top onto the black cardboard (you can use any other color but we feel black provides great contrast).
Take a piece of newspaper and let your child use a pencil to draw a hand on it.
Draw or ask them to draw pencil lines with a black marker.
Cut out the shape of a hand to create our tree trunk.
Gue shaped a newspaper hand below the tree top.
Step back and admire the colorful handprint tree!
A perfect craft to make every year to watch little hands grow.
A fun way to make recycled art.
