Handprint Winter Tree Craft

We really love a good handprint art project, they make great keepsakes and are treasured for years to come. This winter handprint craft is a perfect winter handprint art idea that kids can make. So to speak, do one with them every year and watch the tree grow.

This project is great because it adds quite a bit of fine motor skill practice, so it’s more than just making handprints. You can do this by drawing a hand like we did, or by having your child draw the hand with brown paint and make a handprint. Both ways are fun and the end result is equally good.

Winter Tree Handprint

How to make winter handprint crafts

What you need:

  • pencil
  • drag
  • glue
  • White paper
  • cardboard (green and brown)
  • pom pom (white)

Step-by-step instructions

Start by setting up the base. We chose light blue cardstock to add a cold feel to our project, but kids can choose other colors too.

Step 1

Time to add a layer of snow! Take a white sheet of paper the same width as the background paper and ask your child to tear it up.

Step 2

Apply glue to the bottom of the base or onto white torn paper.

Step 3

Glue the torn paper to the base.

Step 4

Take the brown paper and ask the child to place his hand on the paper (left hand if he is right-handed or right hand if he is left-handed). Ask them to trace around their hands.

Step 5

Next, have them cut out the handprint and glue it to the snow.
