When it comes to crafts for kids, recycled crafts are the best – if you make a useful recycled craft, even better. This tutorial will show you How to Make a Dog Puppet, an adorable recycled project that kids will love.
Once your child learns how to make this puppet, they will be able to make many more.

The joy on your child’s face when they create their own puppet is indescribable. This is more than just a craft. It’s a toy. It’s a friend.
Puppetry may seem complicated, but it’s actually very easy to make and you probably already have everything you need around the house – if not, there’s still plenty of room for creativity.
Looks cool right? We just wish the tongue was red because it would look even cooler.
Your child will love taking this dog for walks soon.
Ready to make one yourself? Let’s get started!
What you need:
Paint 3 rolls of paper. We are making our dog brown, any color will do.
Optional for dots: using a circular ruler and pencil, draw 10 small circles and 2 larger circles on colored paper.
Then cut them out.
Use scissors to cut 4 holes in the paper roll for the legs (with adult supervision).
You can also use a hole punch.
Leave an equal distance between them.
Apply some glue to 10 circles and stick them onto the paper roll.
Cut two long pieces of yarn and thread them through the holes.
Now cut two more holes in the middle of the body, opposite the legs.
Thread a long piece of yarn through them.
Take another roll of toilet paper and cut it 1/3 of the way down.
The larger piece will be used for the head. We will use the smaller piece later.
Punch two holes in the middle of the toilet paper roll.
Now measure the amount of space you want to leave between the body and head and tie a knot.
Place the head in (thread the yarn through the holes).
Wrap 2 cotton swabs around the wooden stick and cut the excess off the stick.
Repeat this step one more time so you have two equal wooden sticks wrapped with cotton swabs.
Make an X shape and use the 5th cotton swab to secure them in the middle.
Pull your dog straight up and make sure the yarn on both sides is the same length.
Then, apply a little glue to one end of the X shape and glue the yarn in.
Glue two larger circles on top of the head and add bulging eyes on top of those circles.
Cut the third roll of paper and flatten it. Draw two dog ears and glue them to the head as shown.
Then draw and cut out a small nose from white glitter self-adhesive foam.
Put your nose in.
With the remaining 1/3 of the roll, roll a tongue…
…and stick it inside your mouth.
Take the cork and divide it into 4 equal parts, then use a craft knife to cut them.
Then color the parts with acrylic paint and let dry.
The cork circles will act as the feet.
Place 4 cork rings in (thread them onto the yarn), then make legs of equal length…
…and tie four strong knots. Cut off the excess thread.
From the leftover paper used for the ears, we cut a small tail and glued it to the dog’s body.
Yay, we’re done here!
Now start moving the joystick up and down, left and right and see how silly Moggy Mog gets.
What fun!
Show your friends how to make a puppet dog just like you to play with!
Hope you enjoy this project!
See you soon with more fun crafts!
Happy crafting!
