Remember when you caught a snowflake in your hand and saw its shape before it melted? It was amazing to see the perfection of that tiny ice crystal. If you haven’t done it before, we recommend grabbing a magnifying glass and going snowflake hunting as soon as you get the chance. You’ll be mesmerized.
Snowflakes are truly something special, and as the saying goes – every snowflake is unique, so we made sure to capture some of this uniqueness by creating a variety of paper snowflakes in this “how to make paper snowflakes” bundle (hopefully the first of many).
This pack includes 20 different snowflake templates with short instructions at the bottom of each page, as well as instructions on how the final paper snowflake should look.
We love simple crafts, so we made sure to include enough simple designs to make. All you need to do is choose the designs you like (or all of them, of course), print them out, and cut out the marked areas. Since we know you like more complex designs, some advanced printable templates are included too!
If you want, you can use colored paper or just use plain paper and color the entire square with your favorite colored pencils before cutting.
Once you know how to fold snowflakes, your child can try and design their own snowflakes to make your collection truly unique.
Making snowflakes is a fun and simple indoor activity, and best of all, you can use them as a lovely winter decoration for your windows or walls.

How to Make Snowflakes from Paper
What you need:
- our printable paper snowflake template (you can get it at the end of this tutorial)
- plain paper (the lighter the better because heavy paper is difficult to cut)
- drag
We also used a craft stick to make the folds sharper.
You can also decorate the paper snowflakes with glitter glue to make them more beautiful.

Follow the step-by-step instructions
Choose your favorite snowflake template and print it out (get the template at the end of the tutorial). A simplified version of the instructions is included on each page, making this a great classroom project.
We use regular printer paper, but we recommend using the thinnest paper you have for easier cutting.
Use scissors to cut out the square.
First, we need to fold the square in half to get a triangle.
Fold this triangle in half as shown below.
You will need to fold the left and right sides of the triangle backwards.
Your future snowflake will look like this.
Cut out unnecessary parts.
You can start by cutting the top of the folded snowflake.
Cut along the lines to cut out the “gray” area – this is marked in the short instructions at the bottom of each page.
Gently and slowly unfold the completed snowflake.
Your snowflake is complete and ready to display.
