This swinging paper plate craft is a great addition to our Santa paper plate craft, especially if you’re planning a fun Christmas craft session.
The idea of these rocking paper plate crafts is that they can also be used as toys for children to play with after they are finished. But we have another special role for this rocking paper plate – make it nice and shiny and replace the star on top of the tree with a cute little angel. Isn’t that cool?

How to make a paper plate seesaw angel
What you need:
- paper plate – one paper plate will make one angel
- black marker
- colored paper for hair (yellow, orange, brown, black…)
- decoration (sparkle…)
- glue
- drag

Follow the step-by-step instructions
Fold the paper plate in half.
Cut along the fold.
Fold in half into a cone.
Open it up, apply glue to one end…
And glue them together into a cone shape. Let the glue dry.We often use clothespins to hold things together so we can move on to the next step and give the glue enough time to dry.
Take the other half of the paper plate and cut it in half again.
Take one quarter of the paper plate and cut it in half again.
Cut off the edges of both sides of the paper plate.
Take the remaining quarter and cut it into a circle or use a chisel to punch out a circle.
Place the circle on colored paper and cut out a strip as wide as the circle (almost like the illustration below).
Apply glue to the paper strip…
And fold it in a circle, creating a beautiful hairline.
Draw a face with a marker.
Cut off any excess rim (from quarters or eighths of the paper plate).
Fold one end over…
…if you want your angel to have a festive look, add some decorations to the paper plate cone…
Stick to hand.
And the wings…
Don’t forget the head.
Done! You have made your rocking paper plate angel.
