Use pictures of all the colors of the rainbow because it’s time to do some spring crafts with your kids. Spring only has flowers and insects, there are also some other things but these two topics seem to be getting more attention.

We made a butterfly windbreaker a while back, so this cute ladybug windbreaker should join in on the fun. Make dozens of ladybugs or a mixture of different ones, whatever you do, this one is sure to look great.

How to make Windsock ladybug toilet paper roll crafts

What you need:

  • paper roll – make one from craft paper or use a toilet paper roll
  • tissue paper in spring colors (think grass)
  • blue paint
  • paint brush
  • black construction paper
  • red construction paper
  • wiggle eye patch or blurry eyes
  • black marker
  • glue
  • drag
  • wool yarn
  • one-hole paper punch
  • optional: large round paper punch

Step by step guide

Start by painting the paper roll with green paint. If you have a branded roll of paper (with a logo on it), multiple coats of paint may be needed.

Let the paint dry. When dry, punch two holes in one side of the roll. The holes must be located opposite each other.

Thread the yarn through both holes.

Tie the thread.

Make a ladybug.

Cut out a large black circle and a large red circle. Also cut out the smaller black circle (paper punch lines are really useful here and kids love them).

Glue the small black circle onto the larger circle to make the ladybug’s body.

Draw black dots on the red circle.

Cut the red circle in half to make the wings.

Stick the eyes on the head.

Glue the wings onto the ladybug body.

Glue the ladybug to the scroll.

Cut long strips of tissue paper and tape them to the toilet paper roll.

Completed. Your handmade Ladybug Windsock toilet paper roll is ready to hang.
