Last Minute DIY Halloween Card with Googly Eyes

Sometimes the fastest and simplest ideas are the best ideas. This last minute DIY Halloween card with glittery eyes is a fun Halloween activity for kids.

If your kids love doing crafts, you probably already have all the supplies on hand, if not, you can easily modify this card tutorial to use what you already have.

This last-minute Halloween craft for kids is a quick and great way to practice your child’s fine motor skills as they work with their eyes open (and peeling back layers to get to the glue requires ask about fine motor skills).

If you don’t have googly eyes, a good alternative is googly eye patches, which can be purchased at most stores (we love them). If that’s not an option either, cutting out small circles from white paper and using a black marker to draw eyes would also work great for this homemade Halloween card.

How to make last-minute DIY Halloween cards with Google eyes

What you need:

  • cardstock in the color of your choice (we think purple, orange, black, and green are great options)
  • googly eyes or googly eye stickers
  • white paper or white chalk marker
  • glue, scissors

Step-by-step instructions

If you don’t have a blank card, you can easily make one by cutting a sheet of letterhead or A4-sized paper in half. Take one half and fold it in half to make a card. We recommend running a ruler (or any other object) across the fold to make it really neat.

Cut out the mouth with two white paper fangs. If you have a marker handy, you can also draw the mouth (it’s easier than cutting it out and it looks cool).

You can also use a black marker to draw the mouth if you plan to make this handmade Halloween card in brighter colors.

If glued to the mouth, gently press down to secure the glue.

Now start adding googly eyes (or alternatives).

Peel off the protective layer of glue…

…and press the eye on the card so it sticks.

Continue adding more eyes until you’re happy with the look of your monster Halloween card.

Now all that’s left to do is add a note inside the card.

All has been done. This last minute DIY Halloween card with glitter eyes is ready to show to the world.
