This week’s trip to the dollar store was well worth it because it sparked the idea to make a simple mini art sand bottle necklace!
This is a great craft for slightly older kids but with some (read quite a bit) help from you, even younger kids can make their own sand art pendants mine!
I saw sand bottle art pendants in the store and they were quite expensive (not a huge amount but still) but when I walked past the “nail art” section I saw gems manicure comes in these sweet bottles and one pack contains 8 tablets. is… 1 dollar! I bought the sand a while ago (I think it cost about $1 for various colors packaged in little boxes but don’t keep me there) so we were all ready to go in the morning create!
So now we have super cute little bottles to make sand art pendants and lots of little gems to use in the near/distant future. So excited about this idea, we encountered our first problem… How to get sand through the small hole… Make your own paper funnel! So easy (and sorry for the not so impressive photo)!
Now that this problem is solved, all that’s left to do is slowly add the sand into the paper funnel (we used the tip of a dull knife but a small spoon would probably work better) and create Great patterns!
Once at the top, use the cap that came with the bottle to press the sand down (it should be as tight as possible so the colors don’t mix when shaken). Last but not least, apply some glue (super glue is the safest kind – naturally handled by adults) on the lid and close the lid of the little bottle.
Sweet, right?
