Octopus Paper Plate Craft

Octopuses are one of the smartest creatures in the ocean and they look amazing – so why not make a handmade octopus paper plate!

Paper plate crafts are great for all ages – you can do super simple crafts with preschoolers and more detailed projects with older kids!

Handmade Paper Plate - Octopus

Let’s make an octopus with a paper plate!

You will need it

  • Paper plates (plain white or colorful plates)
  • orange
  • orange paper (or plain white paper and let children color it)
  • white paper
  • drag
  • glue
  • pen, black marker

Start by coloring the sheet of paper. While the paint dries we’ll make the tentacles and eyes! Fold the orange paper in half – fold it in half again (I think the technical term for this is in half). Now draw two tentacles on paper and cut them – this will give you 8 tentacles!

Cut two ellipses for eyes and draw eyes with a black pen.

Once the paint on the paper plate has dried, turn it over and start gluing the tentacles. You can go all over (but by the way, this octopus paper craft could easily be mistaken for a sun craft) or just have the tentacles on half like ours.

Now all that’s left to do is glue on the eyes (you can easily draw them directly on the paper plate).

You can also add suckers to the tentacles – draw them, use bubble wrap, buttons, glitter glue, paper circles…
