Painted Rock Bugs

Today we are going to turn ordinary rocks into cute painted rock bugs! Rock crafts can be really fun, take an ordinary rock that you find on a nature walk (or buy at the dollar store) and turn it into something adorable.

Even if you don’t really like insects, these little creatures sure look like fun, don’t they?

What you need

First wash and dry the rock to remove any dirt. Now get crazy with the colors!

First, we colored them with chalk markers – they were easy to color and the colors were vibrant (but if you display your rocks outdoors, you will need to protect them with varnish or mod podge to make them waterproof).

First, we paint a layer of color, let it dry completely, and then paint other colorful details.

Once all the colors are dry, paint the top with black paint. Let dry. Draw the eyes with white chalk and let dry.

Using a black marker, draw a line along the beetle’s back and draw two black dots for the eyes.
