We love making paper crafts… But with making paper crafts, there is often a lot of waste paper that ends up in the trash and this is something we don’t like. So why not save scrap paper and make paper apple mosaic art with it (or any other paper mosaic art).
This is a great way to use up scrap paper and it’s very creative. Puzzle pieces of all sizes come in handy when you create paper collages.

This is a great fall art project. You can also create a paper fox collage in the same way. Super easy and super fun.
How to make paper apple mosaic art
What you need:
- printable template (optional)
- colored paper (green, blue, brown and red)
- black cardboard
- pencil
- drag
- adhesive
- white marker
Step-by-step instructions
Prepare a sheet of black cardboard and have your child draw an apple. Other paper colors also work well, but black provides a nice contrast to the inlay pieces.
For younger children, you can draw the outline of the apple with a marker or white chalk to create clearer instructions for the mosaic art.
Cut out small pieces of paper. Squares are great but any shape will do.
Apply glue to a small area inside the apple and stick the pieces of paper onto the glue.
Continue pasting the red paper pieces until the apple is filled.
Cut smaller pieces to fill the space.
Repeat the process with brown paper for the apple stem.
And green paper for the leaf.
To create the background, have your child cut or tear pieces of blue paper and begin gluing them to the cardboard.
Fill all areas designated as background.
Complete the artwork by gluing pieces of green (grass) or brown (table) paper to the bottom part of the paper.
Once all the elements are ready, your paper apple mosaic is complete!
