No need for regular Easter eggs when you can make this adorable paper Easter egg craft with your kids!
We made these, actually we used paper rolls, when I was in kindergarten and it was one of those projects that was fun enough to do that I still remember :).

While this Easter craft idea can be done entirely “by hand,” we’ve also prepared a printable Easter egg template (which you can find at the end of this tutorial), a sheet of paper with 6 egg silhouettes, which you can print and let the kids decorate in any way they see fit.
When I was in kindergarten, this activity, similar to this, was really fun! We had lots of “decorating” materials to choose from and the eggs the class made were absolutely adorable. Honestly, they were probably weird looking balls but it was all about the process and fun, not the end product! The idea was what mattered.
Craft activities should always be fun and a time to spend together with your children or class.
That said, and as you may have gathered from my excitement about the “kindergarten experience”, this craft is a great idea for a craft class. It’s great for fine motor skills and scissor practice and when it comes to decorating the eggs, it’s all open-ended.
So be sure to add this to your Easter craft ideas this year!
Are you ready to learn how to make this paper Easter egg craft? Let’s get started!
What you need to make this fun Easter art craft project:
Let’s do it!
Ready, go and craft!
First you need to print out our printable template for the Easter egg craft. We highly recommend printing on thicker paper (we used 120gsm/59lb – it’s thick enough and still easy to cut).
Now it’s time to get creative with colors!
Be as creative as possible, using a combination of different colorants to make your work more interesting.
Stamps, markers, even puffy paint to make things come to life.
We think glitter would add a nice touch to this paper Easter egg craft idea as would glittery gems. The more creative, the merrier!
Once all the eggs are nice and colorful (we know yours will be the prettiest – each one is unique and wonderful), cut them up.
Cut, cut, cut!
While the eggs you make are beautiful, they will be even more beautiful when placed on a grass rack.
It’s so easy to do.
Cut a strip of green paper (about the width of an egg).
Now use scissors to cut in a zigzag pattern along one side to form the grass.
Looks pretty cool right?
You will need to do a little measuring to get the egg to fit.
Connect the ends together to form a holder. Place the egg inside, if the egg fits snugly (doesn’t fall in) then your size is right and all that’s left to do is glue the ends together.
If the egg falls off, you will need to make the diameter of the holder slightly smaller. Tape the ends together until the holder for your paper Easter egg craft fits.
Place the paper Easter egg inside the grass rack.
Done!
