How to Make Mother’s Day Paper Flower Cards

What you need:

  • a picture of the child
  • red or other colored paper
  • green paper
  • Cardboard for card base
  • yellow paper
  • paper cutter or scissors
  • Round hole punch (optional)
  • glue
  • drag

Step-by-step instructions

Step 1

Start by taking photos. This needs to be done in advance. Ask the child to hold a small object in their hand and pose as if they are holding a bouquet of flowers (it’s best if the background is one color so it’s easy to edit the photo – you can also skip the editing part and just crop the outline of children).

Step 2

Print the photo and cut along the contour.

Step 3

Cut strips of thought paper. A paper trimmer works best for this (kids love it). The size of the paper strip depends on the size of the card – it’s best to test things out a bit before starting your crafting session. This step can be done in advance or the child can cut the strips themselves, it all depends on the child’s age, how long you have to complete the project…

Step 4

Make a paper ring. Apply glue to one end of the paper strip…

…and glue the ends together.

Do a bunch.

Step 5

Cut (or punch) a yellow circle. Glue strips of paper to one side of the circle.

Continue until you are satisfied with the shape of the petals.

Step 6

Fold the cardboard in half.

Step 7

Cut a thin strip of green paper (flower stem) and glue it onto the card.

Step 8

Paste the child’s photo on the card.

Step 9

Glue the flower to the card.

Step 10

Write a special note.

All done! Your Paper Flower Mother’s Day Card is complete and ready to be given to that special someone in your child’s life.
