Sunflowers are the flower of autumn, while many other flowers are still blooming, none are as impressive as sunflowers.

Sunflower seeds are also pretty cool, they are delicious for both us and animals and they are beautiful. They can easily be used in arts and crafts projects and we really like how they add a little something special to this sunflower craft.

How to make sunflower paper ring crafts with seeds

What you need:

  • yellow paper
  • green paper
  • colorful construction paper for base
  • sunflower seeds
  • white school glue
  • glue
  • drag

Step by step instructions

Cut a strip of green paper and glue it to the base (we chose orange paper but any color will do).

Shorten the strip if it is too long.

Cut out a yellow circle (it doesn’t have to be perfect – we used a paper circle punch) and two leaf shapes from green paper.

Press the leaves to create volume.

Glue them to the sunflower stem.

Cut a bunch of yellow paper – thin if for older children, wider if for younger children.

We cut them about “finger wide” and letter-sized (A4) width. We cut the strips in half. It all depends on the size of the sunflower you make.

Apply glue to one end of the yellow paper strip.

Tape the two ends together to form a paper ring.

Make a series of papar rings.

Apply glue to the end of the paper ring (where you glued the two ends together)…

…and glue the paper ring to the yellow circle.

Continue doing the rest until you have a beautiful sunflower.

Apply a sufficient amount of white glue.

Sprinkle the sunflower seeds onto the glue. Gently press down with your fingers to adhere them to the glue.

Completed and ready to display! They make great bulletin board decorations.

Happy crafting!
