Bats are a great craft theme for fall or Halloween. These mammals are one of the most interesting because they can fly like birds. How fascinating is that?

This craft idea is really simple and since it only uses paper (and optionally googly eyes or stickers) it is really economical. You can also make it a recycled craft, just use old paper and have the kids paint it black before starting to make the bat.

How to make simple paper bat crafts

What you need:

  • black paper
  • white paper
  • drag
  • glue
  • Optional: Googly eyes or eye patches

Step by step instructions

Start by cutting two wide strips of black paper. About 2 inches / 5 cm and the width of a letter / A4 sized sheet of paper.

This is all the black paper we need to make this bat craft.

Take a strip and add a little glue to one end.

Join the ends together to form a roll of paper. Let the glue dry.

Fold the remaining strip of paper in half.

Cut out the bat wings (you can draw them first) – maybe this bat wing drawing tutorial will help.

Separate the two wings.

Fold the wing part closer to the body and apply glue.

Glue the wings to the paper roll.

Cut two ears from the black paper pieces you got when you cut the wings and glue them onto the roll (on the inside).

Next, cut two long triangles from white paper and glue them to the bat.

Also, add two vibrating eyes.

Simple paper crafts are ready to display.
