Paper Plate Christmas Wreath Craft

Use the perfect shapes of paper plates to make a paper plate Christmas wreath. This wreath looks beautiful and is a great craft activity to practice scissor skills and fine motor skills.

The end result will be a perfect wreath.

We love making all sorts of Christmas crafts, and we feel this would be a great Christmas project for the classroom. However, when it comes to making Christmas wreaths for kids in the classroom, we feel this tutorial should (maybe) be used as a way to decorate a wreath, but you don’t need to limit your students to just this.

Let your child design their own wreath. Let them use whatever materials they like. Remember, this tutorial is just one idea that will hopefully spark many more. There is really no limit to the materials your child can use when making these decorations.

If you’re doing this as a family project, you can also adapt the craft to suit different ages – if you need an easier version for younger kids (preschoolers or toddlers), have them paint paper plates – they can even use their hands instead of paintbrushes – you know they’ll love it.

Older children can make smaller paper rings and use more, which will make this Christmas craft look more interesting.

Let their imagination guide them.

How to make a Christmas wreath with paper plates

What you need:

• paper plate
• green paper
• red paper
• drag
• glue
• pom pom (optional)

Step by step instructions

Punch a hole in the center of the paper plate, start cutting from there to cut out the bottom of the paper plate (circle).

Cut green paper strips.

We do this by cutting across the width of a sheet of a4/letter sized paper. Then we cut those strips in half.

Apply glue to the end of the paper strip.

Tape the two ends together to form a roll of paper.

Do a lot.

Apply glue (or better yet, use glue stick) to the edge of the paper plate or paper roll and glue the paper rolls to the edge of the paper plate.

Next, let’s make a bow. Fold a piece of red paper in half and cut out a “half bow”.

Also, make two ribbons.

Glue the ribbon to the back of the bow.

Cut a strip of red paper, glue one end and form a red paper ring.

Stick it on the bow.

Apply glue to the back of the bow and press it onto the Christmas wreath on the paper plate.

Now it’s time to decorate. We decorated it with tassels.

Apply glue to the pom pom (or use glue stick) and stick it to the paper rings.

Done! Your paper plate Christmas wreath is finished and ready to hang.
